The admission-free, family-friendly Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a classic seaside amusement park. Overlooking Main Beach in Santa Cruz, the boardwalk was built in 1907 as the “Coney Island of the West Coast” and features two national historic landmarks: the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster and the Looff Carousel. These classics join over 40 rides and amusements at this landmark attraction. Enjoy the indoor arcade at Neptune’s Kingdom, miniature golf, gift shops, and classic boardwalk treats like funnel cakes, deep-fried Twinkies®, churros, kettle corn, cotton candy, saltwater taffy, and more. (Fore retro '80s fans, it was also a key setting for The Lost Boys!)
Although the boardwalk shines in the summertime, there’s still plenty to do during the off-season. Special events like the Boardwalk Bites and Brews in September, Chili Cook Off in October, and the Clam Chowder Festival in February - as well as holiday ice skating means lots to choose from when planning a fall and wintertime visit. Explore the history of this iconic amusement park by taking a self-guided tour and learn about the history of the boardwalk, or check out Neptune’s Kingdom, mini golf at Buccaneer Bay, or enjoy the fast-paced adventure of Laser Tag!
With lots of things to do this season, you can find the perfect place to stay while you play!
