Local tribes practicing the “Ohlone” culture have thrived in this area for thousands of years. Traditions and knowledge of native food plants continues to connect us with local landscapes. Join us at this workshop and learn about the natural history of native food plants, how native tribes interact with and cultivate these plants, and traditional methods for processing them. State Park Ranger Alex Tabone will create fire and prepare food using traditional practices and Rick Flores, Curator of the California Native Plant Collection, will lead the discussion on the natural history of our native food plants. Supplies and refreshments provided. Weather permitting, this workshop will take place outside. Please dress accordingly.
