Séan Gavin is one of the most highly regarded Irish musicians of his generation – a master uilleann piper and flute player. He is the first and only musician born outside of Ireland to win the prestigious Séan Ó Riada Gold Medal. Séan has toured with multiple groups, was the Musical Director of the PBS program “I am Ireland”, and has lectured on traditional music at many universities here and abroad. He founded and is the current director of the Irish Music Institute that encourages people of all ages to explore the ancestral music and song of Ireland through virtual online and in-person learning from world-class instructors.
Colm Gannon, born to Connemara parents, learned his music from his father and brother Séan and was exposed to a variety of great musicians from an early age. A master at playing the button accordion and melodion and a 1994 All-Ireland champion, he has toured extensively with Riverdance, Dervish and DeDannan and attained his first class Masters degree in Traditional Music Performance at the University of Limerick.
Go listen to this amazing duo for an evening filled with beautiful music and incredible talent!
