It’s back, and scientists are thinking that the bloom date might happen around Halloween!
The specimen bloomed for the first time in 2022 and thousands came to see it and to smell the horrific smell said to be akin to a decomposing corpse. Follow the Arboretum Instagram page. They will announce when it officially blooms, and when it does, the flower will only last about 24 hours. Flies will be attracted to the putrid smell, pollinate the flower, and you will have to wait another 4 years before the possibility of seeing and smelling the bloom again.
