Locals Love: Combining a visit to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park when visiting Roaring Camp. The Redwood Loop trail is a little less than a mile, wheelchair accessible, and has the really ancient trees to see.
First Timers Miss: If you want to add a train ride with your visit, you cannot always just purchase it at the ticket window at Roaring Camp. If you think you might like to ride the train, you should purchase the tickets in advance. They sell out fast! Besides, that $10 parking fee is included in your train ticket price.
Insights: It is also $10 a car to park at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. But, once you have paid for parking at one state park, you have paid for parking at all of them, and there are 14 in Santa Cruz County alone. The Henry Cowell parking lot is closer to the train station platform if walking is an issue.
