Big Basin Redwoods State Park: Nutcracker Hike

A sign that survived the fire detailing how the ancient trees survive everything as the trees behind the sign are recovering from the 2020 fire.
November 17 @ 8:00 am5:00 pm PST

Explore the magic and resilience of the season at the very first State Park ever created in California! Long-time docents, Karen and Eva will guide you along  the easy, level, half-mile Redwood Loop trail while playing the music of the Nutcracker Suite. They will guide your imagination for seeing the ancient forest performing the ballet! Juxtapose the drama of the ballet with the drama of a forest flourishing and recovering after the 2020 fires. Dress warmly and meet at the temporary visitor center.

Note that although this event is free,  It costs $10 to park at a state park. Hold on to that receipt! Once you have paid for parking at one state park, you have paid for them all, and there are 14 in Santa Cruz County alone!
