Perched just above town in the sun-dappled foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, DeLaveaga is where ocean views meet winding trails, and one of the top-ranked golf courses in the state sits alongside an award-winning restaurant, a cocktail bar, and miles of striking natural beauty. From outdoor Shakespeare plays to a world-class disc golf course, this Hub location has something to offer everyone. Whether you’re a foodie, a theater lover, a hiker, or just someone looking for a great sunset spot, the DeLaveaga area is a mini destination in itself—with enough to fill an entire day without ever having to leave.

At the heart of the DeLaveaga hub, The Grille is more than just a place to grab a bite—it’s the perfect start-and-finish line for your Santa Cruz adventure. Perched above the rolling green hills of the golf course, this hidden gem offers some of the best panoramic views in the county and a food and drink menu that rivals top restaurants in town. Whether you’re fueling up before a disc golf round, enjoying a casual brunch with friends, or grabbing lunch after a hike in the surrounding trails, The Grille delivers. Their standout brunch menu features favorites like Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffles, buttery croissant benedicts, and other elevated comfort food classics, while their bar serves up hand-crafted cocktails, local beers, and California wines that make lingering on the patio an easy choice. With its welcoming vibe, unbeatable views, and seriously good food, The Grille isn’t just a pit stop—it’s the centerpiece of the DeLaveaga experience.

Experience: Santa Cruz Shakespeare

There’s nothing quite like live theatre in the redwoods—and Santa Cruz Shakespeare makes it a magical summer tradition. Performing at the Audrey Stanley Grove in DeLaveaga Park, this beloved company continues a 40-year legacy of bold, imaginative productions that bring Shakespeare’s works—and those of other great playwrights—to life under an open sky. Come early and soak up the full outdoor theatre experience. Pack a picnic basket, bring your favorite wine or beer, and enjoy dinner with a view from the scenic picnic bluff overlooking the treetops. Or enjoy pre-show drinks and bar bites just down the road at The Grille! There are also onsite concessions where you can grab a bite or drink before settling into your seat among the towering trees. More than just a performance, Santa Cruz Shakespeare is a celebration of storytelling and community. With a mission inspired by the Bard himself, SCS brings people together to explore what it means to be human—through laughter, drama, and a touch of midsummer magic.

Explore: Hiking + “Top of the World” Views

The trails that snake through DeLaveaga Park are a local favorite for good reason. There’s something almost enchanted about wandering under the canopy of oaks and pines—especially when you reach the legendary Top of the World bench. This scenic perch offers a jaw-dropping view over Santa Cruz, and it’s the perfect place to catch your breath, snap a photo, or just sit and soak it all in. This spot is also one of the best places in the county for star gazing without having to drive to remote areas of the Santa Cruz Mountains! So whether you’re going for a casual daytime hike or enjoying a night of stargazing, the natural scenery in DeLaveaga Park is wonderful.
