Visit Santa Cruz County Connecting with Lodging Properties to be Featured in 2023 Traveler’s Guide

With a targeted publish date of mid-February 2023, VSCC is reaching out to local hotels, motels, bed and breakfast inns, and vacation rentals with advertising opportunities in this premiere publication. The Official Santa Cruz County Traveler’s Guide is supported by a unique partnership between Visit Santa Cruz County (VSCC) and Edible Monterey Bay (EMB) to produce the publication.

The upscale magazine will feature a high-impact front-of-book community-focused lifestyle perspective of Santa Cruz County – a marked departure from previous versions produced by VSCC. Thoughtfully curated content in the form of comprehensive, journalistically-driven narratives and reflective photography conveying the soulful nature of Santa Cruz County will be trademarks of the guide.

The back of the book will lean into the rational essentials for potential visitors with tourism-centric facilities and will serve to inform visitors about where to stay, eat, and what to do while in the county. It will be complemented with display advertising from hotels, restaurants, attractions and other local businesses.

Accommodations suppliers that would like to be featured as an advertiser in the 2023 Official Santa Cruz County Traveler’s Guide may contact Flavia Oliveira, Sales and Marketing Director. All other businesses who are interested in advertising in the guide may contact Deborah Luhrman, Editor at Edible Monterey Bay.

Visit Santa Cruz County Participates in Visit California’s Pacific Northwest Media Mission

Santa Cruz County was represented to journalists, freelancers, editors, and social media influencers as Visit California hosted media at the Pacific Northwest Media Mission in Seattle on November 10th. The second media mission so far this fiscal year, Visit Santa Cruz County (VSCC), was among 14 other DMO’s who met with representatives from print and online outlets.

One-on-one meetings with journalists who write for outlets such as AFAR, Departures, the Chicago Tribune, Conde Nast Traveler, Travel Channel, Fodor’s, Saveur, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Travel + Leisure, Men’s Journal and other publications were among the activities and networking opportunities enabled meaningful conversations about trending topics to take place.

VSCC joined destinations such as Palm Springs, Sonoma County, Beverly Hills, Monterey, Temecula Valley, Mendocino, Santa Monica, Anaheim and others for a full day of meet-and-greet receptions, activities, lunch, and a Diversity in Wine dinner to round out the mission.

Discussion and pitches from Visit Santa Cruz County centered around state parks and redwood open spaces, agri-tourism, new hotel and restaurant openings, and the local arts and culture scene.

The Pacific Northwest is a target market for VSCC, as increased airlift from the gateway cities of Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver into Mineta-San Jose International Airport translates into more visitors to the region.

Santa Cruz County Represented at Meetings Events

Visit Santa Cruz County (VSCC) represented industry partners at two key trade shows designed to connect suppliers from destinations – among other types of businesses – with meeting planners.  Earlier this month, Director of Sales and Marketing Flavia Oliveira attended the National Three-Day Experience – California, hosted by Smart Meetings and Connect West, sponsored by Connect Meetings. Combining industry presentations, networking opportunities, and one-on-one appointments, these events match with the meeting planner market VSCC is hoping to attract.

The National Three-Day Experience took place in Oxnard November 6 – 8. Flavia hosted 22 one-on-one appointments with planners who were a good fit with the Santa Cruz County region and venue sites. A total of 63 meeting planners from around the country attended the event, which included workshops and guest speakers.

At Connect West, 51 corporate meeting planners based in California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico met with representatives from DMOs, hotels, convention centers, and other venues in San Francisco from November 9 – 10. Over two days, Flavia hosted 25 appointments with highly vetted prospective planners seeking properties offering creative meeting spaces, teambuilding activities and unique venues for corporate functions.
