Lúpulo Craft Beer House in downtown Santa Cruz has quickly become the go-to gathering place of visitors and locals alike. With 16 carefully curated and diverse beer drafts and hundreds of bottled brews ranging from the local mainstays to the highly coveted, Lúpulo-which means “hop” in Spanish-is a sparkling gem of a taproom/bottleshop in a county rife with high-demand, small-batch breweries. Having opened with only a one-room bar and dining area, the craft beer haven has recently completed renovations to almost triple its original size. Now, customers can sip specialty brews at the outward-facing, open-window bar that outlines the main room on the corner of Cedar and Cathcart Streets, or play shuffleboard in the cozy rear game room. Lúpulo also showcases a jam-packed events schedule, but the best feature of all just might be the menu of Spanish and Mexican tapas borrowed from family recipes and made from fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients. ¡Salud!
