Located on the Corralitos Wine Trail in a bucolic area of mid-county, Lester Estates Winery is surrounded by redwood trees and sits amidst an expanse of vineyards. Once known for acres of apple orchards, Corralitos is known for its rich soil and horse farms. Lester Estates has just released its 2017 Sparkling Brut, made of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with the essence of apples in its aromas, its flavors, and its site history. This Brut has been described as featuring the aroma of apple streusel cake, with a distinct note of cinnamon, brown sugar, toasted walnuts, and melted butter. A combination of tastes includes the softness of a Macintosh and the crispness of a Granny Smith. Notes of candied orange peel and a hint of sweet brioche toast round out the flavors.
