To mark the 150th year of the City of Watsonville in 2018, a series of spirited Sesquicentennial events are planned throughout the year which celebrate the rich history and cultures of south county. Save the date of March 30, 2018, for the 150th Birthday Celebration. Other upcoming events – including a Fire in the Sky event at the Watsonville Municipal Airport on the Fourth of July – will be posted on the Sesquicentennial website at www.watsonville150.org which will be updated as information becomes available. Additionally, a new mixed-use space is planned at the airport. Featuring commercial space and with a dynamic, modern design, this project is expected to redefine the airport as a south county destination for this historically agriculturally-rich town. The project will be completed in spring 2018. The airport location will be Beer Thirty’s second location, following its debut in Soquel, roughly six miles south of Santa Cruz. Beer Thirty offers craft beer by the bottle or by the pint, with thirty rotating taps, events, and a family and dog-friendly atmosphere.
