For the third summer in a row, California State Parks is offering Naturalist-Led Backpacking Adventures through the Santa Cruz Mountains! Whether you’re new to backpacking or a seasoned nomad, there’s an adventure waiting for you! This year there will be six backpacking trips offered from April through September 2017, ranging from one to three nights. Hike spectacular ridgelines and old growth redwood forests to sandy shores with our knowledgeable team of backcountry naturalists. Native plant teas, trail desserts, skills demonstrations, campfire stories and jokes are added bonuses! These adventures will trek through Big Basin Redwoods State Park, Castle Rock State Park, Waddell State Beach, Butano State Park, and Portola Redwoods State Park. RESERVATIONS OPEN WENDESDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2017 at 8AM!
This exciting program is truly unique and is the only program of its kind led by California State Park staff. Experienced Backcountry Naturalists will introduce participants to the natural and cultural history of the various parks. Participation is open to adults 18 or over and children ages 13 to 17 accompanied by a parent or guardian.
