Get Stoked on Santa Cruz Surf Culture

More than a century later, our flourishing surf scene continues to generate waves of excitement. To help get you stoked on the local surf culture and heritage, we’ve assembled a surf-themed guide to Santa Cruz. Follow along and you’ll be soon throwing shakas, grinding poke bowls, and maybe even going toes on the nose.

My Weekend in Santa Cruz – A Tribute to Jack O’Neill

Santa Cruz and the surfing world has no doubt lost a legend with the passing of wetsuit pioneer, Jack O’Neill. Locals, visitors, and the surfing community as a whole, have been showing their love and respect for Jack, and this Sunday, July 9, a memorial paddle out will take place in his honor. The Jack O’Neill Memorial Paddle Out will be held near Jack’s home and favorite beach, Pleasure Point, at 11am. Those who will be participating in the paddle out are encouraged to arrive an hour early and parking will be very limited. We hope to see you there and stand (or paddle) beside you on this day where we celebrate the life and legacy of Jack O’Neill!
