"Some of these giants are more than 50 feet around and as tall as the Statue of Liberty. At 1,000 to 2,500 years old, some may predate the Roman Empire. The park also offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, lush waterfalls, and a fascinating natural and cultural history." - California State Parks

Big Basin is home to the largest continuous stand of Ancient Coast Redwoods south of San Francisco, has over 80 miles of trails, and elevations vary from sea level to over 2,000 feet. Whether you're ready to take a 14 mile leg of the Skyline-to-the-Sea Trail or you're just looking for a short guided stroll through the magnificent forest, there really is something for everyone!

I recently had a little outing at Big Basin and the grandeur of the redwoods never ceases to amaze! With my 2 and 4 year old in tow, there were no crazy hikes, no long loops, and no destination waterfalls, but there were plenty of impressive trees, peaceful little streams, and lots of dirt to explore!
