Santa Cruz County is one of the few places where a trail can begin in a redwood forest and end on the beach. Two daily weekend trips are available to access Big Basin: Take route 35A from Metro Center at 8:30am, spend the day at Big Basin and bus back on Route 35 at 7:48pm or hike the trail down to Waddell Creek and connect to the Route 40 Davenport/North Coast Beach route bus back to Santa Cruz at 5:15pm. Cost is $2 one way.
