The admission-free, family-friendly Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a classic seaside amusement park. Overlooking Main Beach in Santa Cruz, the boardwalk was built in 1907 as the “Coney Island of the West Coast” and features two national historic landmarks: the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster and the Looff Carousel. These classics join over 40 rides and amusements at this landmark attraction. Enjoy the indoor arcade at Neptune’s Kingdom, miniature golf, gift shops, and classic boardwalk treats like funnel cakes, deep-fried Twinkies®, churros, kettle corn, cotton candy, saltwater taffy, and more.
Debuting in summer 2017, a beautifully designed new main entrance and plaza will welcome visitors to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. And two new thrill rides are set to debut: Shockwave and Typhoon! Shockwave takes riders on individual motorcycle-style seats facing outward around a large disk which spins, while rocking riders back and forth on a curling, wave-shaped track. Riders on Typhoon will swing upside-down on two spinning arms, reaching a height of 60' over the Boardwalk.
Beginning Wednesday nights at 9PM from June 21- August 16, 2017, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk continues its free weekly summer movies on the beach series. Kicking things off this year is the Lost Boys. So bring your beach towel and kick back and enjoy!
And on Friday nights at 6:30PM and 8:30PM beginning on June 16th and continuing through September 1st, the boardwalk hosts its annual free summer concert series. These bands on the beach include Eddie Money, Los Lobos, Blue Oyster Cult, the Gin Blossoms, and others.
Kayak & standup paddle board rentals from the Santa Cruz Wharf. Guided tours. Sea otters, seals, dolphins and whales. Next to the Main Beach and Boardwalk.
