SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA – Visit Santa Cruz County (VSCC) has launched a new website, redesigning its online content at www.visitsantacruz.org to reflect an evolving Let’s Cruz brand while enhancing the visitor experience online. The new design enables visitors to the site to have information easily accessible via mobile devices, like smartphones or tablets, as website visitors are increasingly using mobile platforms to plan their travel. Responsive websites enable pages to automatically adjust in size according to the device’s screen size and orientation; switching between these options as needed. VSCC’s website currently hosts approximately 900,000 visitors annually.
“It was time for us to enhance the visitor experience, both for travelers planning their vacations and while they are in-market, since so many visitors rely on mobile devices during their trip,” said Maggie Ivy, CEO of Visit Santa Cruz County. “We gave a fresh update to both the look and functionality of our site for the benefit of our digital audience.”
Responsive web design is critical to visually-oriented industries like travel, as it can bring the destination to life with creative assets and photography and strengthen brand presence, all through the addition of stories and inspirational content.
The site design provides ideas for visitors about what to do and see while in the area, through the use of over 150 blog stories and narratives. Hotel, retail, restaurant, attractions, state parks and beaches, and other listing information is enhanced with the use of Google maps and photos and a direct link to the business website.
Visitors can also sign up for the consumer e-newsletter, order a free Official Santa Cruz County Traveler’s Guide, and a free Wildlife Watching Guide from the home page as well.
The website also features dedicated sections for those planning weddings, conferences, and meetings. The Santa Cruz County Film Commission, a department within Visit Santa Cruz County, is also hosted on the website, providing permitting, location, and information on local crew and support services a production company may need while in town.
