THREE NEW PLACES FOR POOCH TO EXPLORE
Three new pet-friendly and approved recreation spots have opened this season, making Santa Cruz County’s roster of dog-friendly spots just a tail longer! The North Escape Road at Big Basin Redwoods State Park is utilizing a former evacuation road for dog-friendly activities. Surrounded by towering redwood trees, the trail provides a seven-mile roundtrip hike. At the Heart of Soquel Park, a small plaza and bocci ball courts not only provide a gathering place for locals and visitors, but a dog-friendly area is built-in. And a new 8,500-square-foot park, near the entrance to New Brighton State Beach in Capitola, features a fenced-in area with two separate pens, each with their own watering station. Ozzi’s Dog Park is adjacent to a new 6,000-square-foot skateboard park, so there will be plenty of fun for all ages and breeds.
