Santa Cruz Warriors Kick Off the 2016-17 Season

It’s time for Santa Cruz basketball! The fifth season of the Santa Cruz Warriors starts November 12th, and if you’re already a fan, you know how lucky we are to have this championship team in town. We’re talking affordable, pro basketball that’s walking distance from downtown and the beach. If you’re new to the Warriors or have yet to attend a game, here’s a quick introduction as well as some exciting things to anticipate this season.

A Stroll through the Arboretum

Strolls in Santa Cruz are kinda a thing. A Sunday stroll on West Cliff  Drive or along Pleasure Point, a little shopping stroll Downtown or in the Village, a mellow stroll through the redwoods...Santa Cruz has got the whole relaxing walk thing DOWN. And another one to add to the list - a stroll at the UC Santa Cruz Arboretum. With 135 acres of gardens and blooms, the UCSC Arboretum is a unique and beautiful place to walk through nature.

There's something pretty spectacular about being able to watch whales from your beach chair. Take it from me, last weekend's cloudy beach day at Santa Maria's was nothing short of amazing as the giants lunged and breached less than 100 feet from the water's edge.

Hidden amidst the lush redwood forests of the Santa Cruz Mountains, the glistening lake draws visitors with scenery, serenity, and activities such as boating, picnicking, and hiking. And now that Loch Lomond is open for the first time in three years (thanks, El Niño!), it’s the perfect time to discover this awesome recreation area. And no, you won’t find any sea monsters.
