We all know taking care of mom is important… and with Mother’s Day just around the corner (it is THIS Sunday, May 8) you hopefully have your plans nailed down. 4. Free Garden Tour

5. 38th Annual Mother’s Day Weekend Plant Sale
When: May 7, 9am-2pm; May 8, 10am-2pm
Where: “Top of Campus” Cabrillo College, Aptos
If your mom has a “green thumb”, this is a great opportunity to treat her to a fantastic selection at one of the largest plant sales in California!
6. 61st Annual High School Art Show Reception
When: May 7, 3-5pm (exhibit runs through May 22)
Where: Santa Cruz Art League, Santa Cruz
Enjoy more than 600 art pieces by area students in the Art League’s state-of-the-art space.
7. Santa Cruz Symphony presents Season Finale Concert 5 Ode to Joy
When: May 7-8, 2016

The dramatic season finale features the Cabrillo Chorus and vocal soloists from the Metropolitan Opera in a performance of Beethoven's great 9th Symphony.

9. The Women of Big Basin: A Mother’s Day Special Event

Where: Big Basin Redwoods State Park, Boulder Creek
Celebrate Mother’s Day by honoring some of the incredible women who have lived in, worked in and fought for the Big Basin.
10. Mother’s Day Nature Wander

Find out what is growing and blooming right now in the Waddell Valley on this approximately 1 mile, 1.5 hour guided walk with a docent naturalist.
11. Mother’s Day Run/Walk for Shelter
When: Sunday, May 8 at 7:45am
Where: Ramsay Park, Watsonville
Entering the 32nd consecutive year, this event is expected to bring nearly 700 participants and 200 businesses, plus crowds of spectators together to raise dollars in support of services to homeless families in our community.

The Boardwalk Bowl has planned Mayhem Every Day in May and that includes free bowling for mom (with a paid family member) on Mother’s Day.
