Coastal Farms

Just north of Santa Cruz, roughly 15 minutes from downtown, you’ll find a string of colorful coastal farms stands. During fall, sunny blue skies and lush green fields are complemented by stacks of yellow hay bales and rows of bright orange pumpkins. Trust us: your photos will bring your Instagram followers to their knees. Take a peek at our photo tour below and see why these scenic stops make the perfect fall outing:

Farmers’ market regulars will recognize Rodoni Farms, an organic farm known for their pristine artichokes and Brussels sprouts. During the fall, you can visit their picture-perfect pumpkin patch with rows of the festive squash lining a gentle hill overlooking the water. There’s also a 5-acre corn maze, play area for little ones, pecking chickens you can feed, and a farm stand with squash and stalks of those famous sprouts.

Fambrini’s Farm Fresh Produce is a quaint farm stand with some of the best strawberries on the coast. Pop into the cozy barn shop to nab fresh veggies and fragrant lavender bouquets. During the month of October, you can also take home a pumpkin or two.

The name says it all at Seaside Pumpkin Farms, a seasonal pumpkin patch with killer ocean views. A welcome respite from the busy highway, their peaceful grounds are dotted with pumpkins and a giant hay bale pyramid calls out to little climbers. In the background: leafy fields of Brussels sprouts and churning waters of the blue Pacific.

You’ll want to pull over when you see the old yellow pick-up truck that marks the incredibly charming Swanton Berry Farm. Swing open the screen door and step into the cozy farm stand teeming with a giddy assortment of strawberries, jams you can sample, pies, cobblers, and warm cider. Once you’ve assembled your sweet haul, plop some money into the honor system till and dig in at the blue picnic tables outside.
