The Kitchen is Where the Heart Is!

Downtown Santa Cruz, my kids and I know it well. The sights and sounds--colorful window displays, street performers, familiar shop owners--can turn a simple stroll down Pacific Avenue into a great kids activity. Toss in some recent rainy weather and cabin fever and it's an all out puddle-splashing adventure! Who needs umbrellas when we can duck in and out of our favorite shops? Chefworks Santa Cruz Over the weekend, the wet weather inspired some fun baking projects in time for Valentines Day, so we headed to Chefworks, a kitchenware store in the heart of Downtown that appeals to both the professional gourmet chef and the casual cook, like myself. Chefworks Santa Cruz In Chefworks, my imagination soars! I'm like a kid in a candy store eyeing all the wondrous gadgets and tools I'd add to my dream kitchen. My kids, on the other hand, head straight to the cookie cutter collection and dream of dessert. Chefworks Santa Cruz Cookie Cutters Still, this makes me happy because in our home, the kitchen is where the heart is. Chefworks Santa Cruz It's the place where we gather 'round the table to break bread and sometimes glasses...I do have four children. Chefworks Santa Cruz It's the place where we laugh and hold deep conversations, but potty talk is never allowed. Well, almost never. Chefworks Santa Cruz On this particular rainy day, it was the place where we decorated cookies to our hearts' content--rolling out dough, dusting and pouring sprinkles, licking our fingers along the way. Chefworks Santa Cruz Rain or shine, the kitchen is where all the magic happens, especially in the company of my budding chefs. Chefworks For more rainy day adventures in Santa Cruz, click here!
