Beach-inspired Vibes at the Comfort Inn Santa Cruz
You can't see the ocean from the Comfort Inn, but it's less than 2 miles away and a recent facelift has given the budget-friendly hotel a beachy look fit for a casual beach town like Santa Cruz.
Inspired by a go-with-the-flow surf vibe, what was once a series of chopped up rooms and separate dining areas closed off after breakfast, is now an open, inviting lobby area available at all times. Updated table and bar seating, where guests can enjoy a complimentary hot breakfast, give the room a clean, crisp feel. There are also convenient USB ports for charging electronics and two new computers at divided desks for guests to use.
Most noticeable is the addition of surf-themed photo art by local photographer Seraphina Landgrebe. The iconic bronze surfer statue on West Cliff Drive and a surfer catching a wave off famed Steamer's Lane are just two of the images showcasing Santa Cruz landmarks, with more on the way. A wall mural depicting surfers at sunset ties the whole room together with all the warm colors found throughout the interior and exterior of the hotel. Opposite the mural, a newly-installed fire place serves as another warm focal point where guests can relax on comfortable couches and chairs.
Outside, the grounds have been re-planted with huge Birds of Paradise plants, bamboo and palms to welcome guests with a more California look, while sophisticated planters with artsy succulent plants greet guests near the lobby entry. Room remodels are also underway!
Behind the Comfort Inn's remodel is Velia Anderson whose company, Anderson Design and Purchasing, strives to give every hotel a unique character that also reflects its location. So far, mission accomplished and kudos to Anderson for using local contractors for both the remodel and landscape projects. Affordable, convenient and now with a whole new look, the Comfort Inn Santa Cruz is primed and ready to be a part of your Santa Cruz adventures.
